PROBLEM: ACNE AND FINE LINES

ACNE: Gives same results as treatment with Accutane, cyrpressing oil production in sebaceous glands, preventing from clogging. Both cystic and inflammatory acne are treated successfully in four to six sessions, two to three weeks apart.

FINE LINES: non-ablative laser rejuvenation stimulates new collagen production: collagen along with soft keratin, is responsible for skin strength and elasticity, and its degradation leads to wrinkles that accompany aging; it strengthens skin and plays a role in tissue development. The new collagen tightens and tones, reducing the appearance of wrinkles. Three to five sessions, two to three weeks apart.

I've had mild-moderate cystic acne since I was a teenager. It's cleared up and various points in my life, mainly

because I was on birth control, but I recently had a really horrible flare-up due to getting off BC, going through a breakup, and stressing about my living situation.
My friend recommended Serene Max because she went there through a SpaWeek special for lasering off her freckles. I went just to have a red spot looked at and the laser lady, Daria, told me about how the laser can help acne as well. I bought a package and have been 3 times now and I can see a difference! There are other factors too: I've had a couple micropeels from Gemvie (the spa/business that shares the location with Serene Max), I've gotten back on birth control, I've worked out the other things stressing me. But I can definitely tell that there aren't big sore bumps brewing under my skin and threatening to come out and scar. The old red marks from previous breakouts aren't gone, but my skin is smooth and I'm getting maybe one new small pimple each week or two vs. four or five big ones. Other people have noticed that my skin looks better, and after a few treatments, I can tell too!
Be warned that it hurts like hell. All this 'little pinch' business is so wrong, haha. The freckle/brown spot laser is just kind of uncomfortable. The vein one hurts a lot but it usually doesn't last long. But the acne laser hurts worse than my tattoo and is especially tough in the beginning when you have more sensitive spots and cystic bumps. Now that mine are starting to dry up, it doesn't hurt quite as much, but it's still sort of a harrowing experience. But worth it!
It's a little expensive. It's way more than I've ever spent on myself or my skin. But there are packages that make it more affordable, and to me it's been totally worth it because it's working! And while I'm going every three weeks to a month now, Daria says that I won't have to continue that forever. It takes maybe four to six times to help clear what's going on, then after that she said I should just come in every three months or so. I like Daria because she always remembers me and what we did last time, and she gives good personalized advice about what to do for my skin. I don't feel bad paying so much for the services because I'm so excited to have found something that actually works!

Q & A

How does skin rejuvenation treatment work?
Laser waves penetrate skin to the depths where collagen synthesis occurs, stimulating collagen production: it strengthens skin and plays a role in tissue development.

What is collagen and why it is so important to "stimulate its production"?
Collagen (along with soft keratin) is responsible for skin strength and elasticity, and its degradation leads to wrinkles that accompany aging. The new collagen tightens and tones, reducing the appearance of wrinkles. So more collagen - younger look. Since laser penetrates deeper that creams and serums its effect is more dramatic and lasts longer, but the greatest benefit is that your body and skin use the resources from within, making injections of toxins unnecessary. So not only it is effective, so it is healthy.

What results can I expect with skin rejuvenation?
People with visible aging from the sun can expect to see their skin become smoother, with a decrease in fine wrinkles, reduction in pore size, improvement in breakouts or an oily t-zone. Those who use acne medication are able to decrease or discontinue their regimen.

How many treatments are necessary?
It depends in great extent on age and skin conditions. In Most cases three to five sessions, two to three weeks apart.

What is a Laser Skin Rejuvenation treatment like?
Each skin rejuvenation treatment takes approximately 30 minutes. A mild amount of heat is felt warming the skin, like your sun tanning. Immediately following treatment, the skin may appear pink and flushed which lasts for 10 minutes to couple hours, in most cases about half an hour.

How soon will I see results from my laser skin rejuvenation treatment?
After each rejuvenation treatment, skin will feel smoother, have a more even tone and pore size will decrease. These improvements are gradual as it takes time to build up collagen, and will be more visible after each treatment.

Who is the best candidate for a Laser Skin Rejuvenation treatment?
The best candidate for a Laser Skin Rejuvenation treatment would be:

- an individual who suffers and experiences rosacea and redness of their skin;

- an individual with early aging signs and sun damage, who desired a healthier more youthful-appearance to their skin.

- an individual who does not want to have an abrasive treatment to achieve that youthful appearance.

- an active person who would benefit from a quick, safe and effective treatment, which would not interfere with social or outdoor activities.

What is acne?
One of the major causes of acne is caused by clogging of the opening of oil glands. As a result, the oil is trapped inside. Certain germs penetrate into the trapped oil and digest it into irritating chemicals. The skin tries to reject these chemicals through pustules (pimples), papules (bumps) and cysts.

How does Laser Acne Treatment work?
Laser uses a specific spectrum of light that targets 1) the bacteria that causes acne and 2) sebaceous gland preventing from over-production of oil and promote healing of the skin after acne break-outs.

What results can I expect with Laser Acne Treatment?
It depends on the type and severity of acne. Over a series of treatments, most patients notice a faster healing time of existing acne lesions. Frequency and severity of acne lesions should subside as treatments go on. As well, on-going treatments can help to prevent acne break-outs and promote skin healing after acne break-outs by evening out skin tone and texture. For evaluation on your particular case schedule an appointment.

How many treatments are necessary?
About 5 treatments, 2-3 weeks apart.

What is treatment like?
The sensation is often described as "hot pinch" feeling and only lasts for fraction of a second, you may feel warmth or a tingling sensation for a short time afterward. The air cooling makes the treatment both comfortable and safe. Temporary redness lasts a very short time, and most patients return to work or normal activities immediately after treatment.

How soon will I see results from Laser Acne Treatment?
In most cases of inflammatory acne you will see result starting first session, cystic acne - after second or third.

Who is the best candidate for a Laser Acne Treatment?
Anyone who wants an alternative to traditional topical or oral therapies for acne, or who have not responded to traditional acne solutions. Any body part may be treated.
